Santa Fe Flooding Its Banks

(Fort White, FL) -- The affects of Tropical Storm Fay are still lingering--just ask those along the banks of the Santa Fe River in the Fort White area. Suwannee Water Management District Hydrologist Megan Weathington says forecasters predict waters will continue getting higher. The good news, a previously issued a flood warning for the Suwannee River has been canceled.

Florida Confidence Up

(Florida) -- Consumer Confidences in Florida rebounds after a record low in June. University of Florida researchers describe the gains made in August as huge with the UF Survey Research Center's Chris McCarty adding this may be a sign that housing prices in the Sunshine state are stabilizing. The bad news, researchers saying the turn around may not be in time for the Holiday season, when Florida traditional draws a high amount of tourist dollars.
